Softwear: Digitally Inspired & Hand Woven Textile
Using a jacquard loom, a machine known as the precursor to the modern computer, weighty symbols of the information age are made manifest. Now woven, linked in concept, humor and beauty their inescapable ubiquity connects us to the world from the comfort of home. The four woven pillows comment upon: HTML code, blogging, Email and command Z.
code A literal and visual intertwining vernacular. Woven structures compose a hybridized simulacrum. The familiar language of flourishing flowers. The dynamic digital language of HTML.
blog Traditionally, weaving has given form to cultural identity. Creating tangible stories through pattern and symbol. Not dissimilar to the digerati of today. As they blog and weave their own collective narrative. A historical record just the same.
undo Permanence and impermanence are at an impasse. When the digital becomes material. Command Z. The venerable undo. The instantaneous computer command as chimeric monument.
email The contents our of inbox accumulate like warp thread upon thread. Every reply layers our communication deeper with repetition and time. Much like the methodically building cloth on the loom.
